Jam and Marmalade* making short breaks
Have you ever wondered how to turn all that lovely summer fruit into gorgeous jam? Are you fed up with tasteless jams from the supermarket and expensive ‘artisan’ jams from cute ‘farm’ shops? Are you fascinated by preserving fruit the way your Granny used to?
Wonder no more. Come along to one of our Jam Sessions to find out how to make jam and, in season, marmalade. We’ll supply everything you’ll need to make luscious jam, including the fruit, jars, sugar and equipment. And tuition from Dave, an award winning* marmalade producer.
Sessions can take place when fruit is out of season if you give us some notice. Most of the fruit we’ll use will come from our own fruit trees and bushes providing the weather is kind to us. It may be necessary, very rarely, to buy fruit in from outside or you are very welcome to bring your own.
The sessions are designed to teach anyone and everyone how to make lovely, homemade delicious jam and marmalade from simple, pure ingredients. At the end of the session you will be able to go home with your own, handmade produce (usually 6 to 8 jars worth up to £20) to share with friends (or keep to yourself to enjoy over breakfast for weeks to come!).
Prices are set out below:
Weekend breaks: two nights B&B (Friday and Saturday nights) including breakfasts, one jam session 10am to 2pm, all ingredients and equipment:
- single person: £155pp
- two people sharing a twin or double: total £212
Midweek specials: any 2 nights except Friday or Saturday including breakfasts, one jam session 10am to 2pm, all ingredients and equipment:
- single person £150pp
- two people sharing a twin or double: total £200
Want to stay longer? Or come with friends? Just let us know what you’d like and we’ll give you a really good price.
